Privacy Policy

What's collected
When you load a page, a small self-hosted script logs:
- Which page you viewed, and roughly when
- Your browser and operating system type (from your browser's User-Agent string) - used only to show a rough "mobile vs desktop" breakdown
- If you arrived via a link from another website, that website's domain (e.g. "reddit.com") - not the full page URL, and not anything from your own browsing history
- A one-way scrambled (hashed) code derived from your IP address and browser, used only to tell "this is probably the same visitor as before" from "this is a new visitor" - your actual IP address is not stored anywhere
What isn't collected
- No cookies are set or read
- No raw IP addresses are stored
- No third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar) and no advertising trackers of any kind
- Nothing is sold, shared, or passed to any third party
- No individual profiling - the data is only ever looked at in aggregate (e.g. "how many people visited this page this week"), not visitor-by-visitor
Why it's collected
Purely to understand which pages people are actually reading, so effort goes where it's useful. That's the entire purpose; there's no advertising or commercial use.
Who can see it
Only me.
How long it's kept
Individual visit records are automatically deleted after 6 months. A running total visit count is kept indefinitely, but that's just a number - it isn't tied to any individual visit or visitor.
Links to other sites
This site links to external sources - news articles, EPA and Kildare County Council documents, other organisations' websites - to back up the claims made here. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover.
