Business and Tourism
#Naas-Lift The new face of Naas project. A Collaboration of a number of groups to help change the streetscape image and access of Naas shops and buildings.
Bringing Back the Highstreet
In 2017 light of the amount of business closures, I requested that this council invites Entrepreneur and Dragons Den Celebrity Bobby Kerr to Naas town for advice and a holistic viewpoint on improving our town, its offerings and how we can support businesses. I submitted a 10 page proposal document and spoke in depth to the Newstalk show program editor the “Bringing Back the Highstreet” asking the show to visit Naas and to my delight the show presented live from Lawlors Hotel in Naas in 2018. We got some great pointers and positive national coverage for our county town.
I asked for a number of uses to be explored for the historical site of Jigginstown Castle such as a visitor centre and tourism initiative such as like Epic in Dublin.
Relocate commercial entities to Kildare
In response to the National Planning Framework document to relocate commercial entities outside the M50 and with Dublin City Council calling to rezoning industrial areas as residential. Will the council identify additional employment lands within the Naas LAP to facilitate these moves and to proactively offer a competitive and compelling case to invite these businesses to relocate from inside the M50 to Kildare rather than going to neighbouring counties Wicklow and Meath?"
Fáilte Points of Interest
Requested that the council act since Fáilte have chosen not to provide new signage for the Naas MD area, I asked the council identify a way to advertise / list points of interest in Naas/Sallins area to traffic users passing the N7 / M7 to bring in more visitors into the town and villages.
